Dear friends,

In response to the call of Archbishop John J. Myers, we came to the Archdiocese of Newark (northern New Jersey) in 2007 to be witnesses of our religious life, through contemplative prayer life and fraternal charity.

Our community here in East Orange is very international: seven sisters from 5 different countries. It is always beautiful to rediscover our unity in Jesus Christ.

Our apostolates is twofold :

On one hand we are involved in our Parish life, working together with Fr. Josemanuel Abalon, Pastor of St.Joseph Parish. We strive to be attentive to the needs of our inner city neighborhood through visits, CCD,Bible Studies, and religion classes at the Parish school.

On the other hand, two of us are more involved in the Campus Ministry of Seton Hall University. Seton Hall is a private Roman Catholic university.

We entrust each one of us and our missions to your prayers. May God helps us to be true witnesses of his love in our poor area.

Events in Autumn

sister clare cutting cakeIn October we had the pleasure of welcoming the superior general of our congregation, Sister Claire of Jesus to visit us for a week. A parishoner kindly brought her a cake, which was a lovely surprise for all!

Also, our  two sisters who work in campus ministry at Seton Hall University have been busy with the students. They went on a hike in the snow at a nearby park, after an early snow storm.

Welcome to our new sisters!

We have 2 new sisters, Sr Immaculata and Sr Dominique Marie. We said farewell to 3 sisters in August as they moved to other priories, Sr Theresia Maria, who had been here for 11 years and was one of the sisters who founded the priory, Sr Monica Maria (8 years) and Sr Francesca Therese (3 years). This is a photo of us all on a recent community outing to Ellis Island in September.

Community Retreat August 2018

We had a great community retreat at Monticello in upstate New York with our brothers from Orange and Quebec. Fr Renaud Marie preached on the theme of Exodus and the desert.

Welcome Fr Chuck!

Our newest Oblate, Fr Chuck, made his oblature at his parish in Camden, New Jersey on Saturday 25th August. The brothers and sisters of East Orange were there, along with other local oblates. It was a great celebration (and feast!) and wonderful to meet many people from his parish. Fr Chuck has had a long association with our community and made many retreats at Princeville so we were very happy to welcome him to the family.
